1964 Lido 14 #2440

Over $10,000 spent on this restoration and the custom heavy duty trailer.

I looked at dozens of other Lidos when buying to find this one. Just like many classic cars from this era, most of the older Lido's are tired, abused, or have major structural problems.
This one is close to perfection.

Set up for racing or cruising with 2 sets of sails, tons of gear, and 2 crates of spare parts. (no junk)
Beautiful 3 year careful restoration with no expenses spared, by the best marine professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area. The lightest, trickest, most custom parts ever assembled on a classic Lido.
We have spent the last 10 wonderful years sail camping, racing, and exploring with this Lido in the High Sierras. Every Summer my Daughter and I have had a wilderness adventure together with this boat.

I found a perfect lake for sail camping, you can sail almost 10 miles into the wilderness area, and camp on any number of tiny isolated islands. On our very first trip, we spent 3 wonderful weeks with just myself and my 3 year old daughter, living and camping out of the Lido. The adventures are priceless.
The boat has proven to be a perfect vehicle for short or extended trips; and we have attended 2 National regattas just for fun, and sailed right along with the racers even with a boatload of kids.
As we all know, when kids become teenagers, priorities change, and sadly it is time to sell our family treasure. We have raced a few times, and the boat is very competitive even with the cruising sails. If you want a Gold Fleet race boat all you need are a set of Ullmans and maybe upgrade the foils.

Here are the details:
The entire hull was stripped to a bare shell and all hardware holes filled, sealed with epoxy and redrilled. All new stainless fasteners with 4200 sealant.

New custom mast and boom by Doublewave. Internal 3:1 outhaul, variable 2:1 or 3:1 mainsheet.
All new SS shrouds and forestay, upgraded 6000 series mast and boom fittings.
Custom tapered spectra halyard, main and jib sheets by Easom Rigging and South Beach Riggers. Beautifully restored and powder coated castings, to match the new mast.
Custom Harken, Ronstan, and RWO blocks.

Complete $4000 gel coat peel and professional Sky Blue paint job on the deck and hull, with epoxy bottom by KKMI boatyard in Richmond. Always covered or garaged, and always landed on pads and astroturf when beaching. In one of the pictures you can see where I made our own little 'harbor' in the wilderness to keep the boat secure at night. One of the most perfect bottoms you will ever see on a Classic Lido.

Complete $2000 interior strip and new zolatone interior, with mast beam and centerboard trunk reglassed to perfection by Bayside Boat Works of Sausalito.
Beautiful custom woodwork, with very trick hollowed - out laminated centerboard cap, looks retro but weighs only a few ounces. Restored original 1964 mast tray and WD Schock nameplate. Super cool gold and silver coin epoxy bonded at the mast step to always ensure a safe voyage.
Custom script vinyl graphics to match the hull color.

$1000 Heavy Duty custom -- made UV silver sunbrella full storage cover, covers entire hull down to the waterline. Custom mast boots and even has boots for the spare tire and guide posts.
Epoxy coated and faired wood foils, with perfect original castings, and custom double-ended centerboard tackle. Includes both the 1964 wood wisker pole in perfect condition, and a new aluminum Forspar racing pole.

Custom 5-batten cruising sails with quick release Harken roller furler. (great for singlehanding or sailing with kids.)
Original set of Class Legal North Sails, in excellent condition.
New $250 vinyl rubrails, in perfect condition.

$2500 Super Heavy Duty custom galvanized EZ Loader trailer, with 2 sets of wheels, complete set of emergency spare parts. 1 set of Narrow road wheels and 1 set of wide floatation tires both on galvanized spoke wheels. The entire trailer was disassembled when new, and every fastener and bolt hole was sprayed with CRC corrosion block or galvanizing spray. All waterproof heat-seal electrical connectors replaced the factory quick crimps that quickly fail. Custom rubber stone guards behind each wheel to reduce stone chips.
Custom $500 foldaway tongue hinge makes the front 4ft of the trailer fold back so the trailer can fit in a small garage.
Trailer also features complete LED lights, with custom lighted guide posts for easy maneuvering at night. Custom rollers and bunks support the hull better and make launching in shallow water or beaches much easier than standard trailers.

Easily towed behind a small car or SUV, the entire boat / trailer package weighs under 500 lbs.

Many more details but you get the idea. . . This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to own one of the nicest Lido 14s ever assembled. If you want to draw a crowd at every event, or if you are like us and you just love the classic Lido shape and retro-coolness this boat offers, this may be the boat for you.
