Lido 14 Fleet 1 Championships

Hosted by Balboa Yacht Club

June 15, 2008

Very demanding conditions - light winds (gusts to 8mph), lots of power boat traffic, fishing boats on the race course, strong tide, a lot of good sailors, and short courses - made for very challenging racing.  Some sank (from their usual levels of performance), some swam (literally), and some rose to the occasion.  The current Class Championship team of Mark Gaudio and David Swain sailed excellently and well deserve the title of Fleet 1 Champions.

Thanks go out to Jeff Keenan - PRO, Len Bose - Trophies, John Papadopoulos - NOR/SI/Registration, Becky Lenhart & Greg Newman - Mark Set, and Jeff's friend (don't know the name) for R/C work on the start signal boat.  Lastly, special thanks to BYC for hosting this year's championships.
