SCYA Mid-Winters
(ABYC) February 14/15El Nino blows out Saturday by blasting 20+ knots with gusts way too high to race Lido's, sending many competitors home for the weekend. Sunday, however, was a different story. The wind builds gently from the S-SW and starts clocking towards W-NW, giving both medium and heavy weather sailors a chance to excel. Four races were squeezed in on Sunday with 3 of the 4 being quasi windward leeward courses in the main portion of the bay. Thirteen boats, all sailing together in the A flight.
Perhaps of greatest note is that the top three competitors were within 1 point of each other and that three skippers had finishing positions of 1, 2, and 3!
Congratulations to repeat winner Kurt & Evelyn of Lido 14 Fleet 1. For the second year in a row, they won by a point or less!
